I need to let you all know that I am going to need to take 1 session off from the actual sessions over FG2 in order to address the latest developments in the game. It's no surprise that the game turned out a bit differently than I had planned and I need to take some time to realistically react to the changes. The Soul Harvester will CERTIANLY react to your parties latest foray into his demense and I also need some time to fit Karnag the Half-Orc Barbarian into the game as well. Thursday nights are really the only time I have available to me to spend on this. So rather than actually start up FG2 and run a session, I thought I'd spend this Thursday doing forum role-plays instead. You can still earn XP from forums role-plays just as before, and you can get some important character maintenance done as well, such as purchasing gear and figuring out your next move.
I just need some extra time to figure out the Soul Harvesters next move, as well as find a way to realistically fit Karnag into the game, as well as give Lantis an opportunity to re-work his character a bit. He and I have discussed the situation, and he's not happy playing his character as a rogue, so I gave him an opportunity to change it a bit. It will not affect any of the other characters in the group, he will still be the same Lantis with the same backstory and everything that has happened will not change, but hopefully, the way he plans on re-working it will give him an opportunity to have more fun, and less opportunity to step on Gavin's toes as a rogue.
Also, the next Thursday AFTER this Thursday is Halloween so I don't know how you all feel about playing D&D on that day. If your up for it, fine, just let me know, but if not, I also understand that as well. Just let me know your thoughts on playing the next game on Thursday, October 31st (Halloween) as out next actual FG2 session.

I guess that means it was a no on the Binder, pity I think that would have been a fun character.

I actually have not had a chance to look at a binder just yet. I'll look into it when I get home from work tonight. Look for a post on that subject this evening some time. I'm on lunch at work now so I'll have to wait till I get home to look it up.

Oh well in that case I shall hold on to the concept for now.

I just finished going over the binder from Tome of Magic and I must say that I can see the allure, as it appears to be a class that allows a player to control numerous different characters at different times, depending on which vestiges they channel. From a role-playing point of view I can certainly see the appeal. However, due to the chaotic nature of the class, in their actions should they loose control to the host vestige rather than their actual alignment, as well the general attitudes of NPC's against such a class, I think the class would cause more problems for the group than not.
I'm still mulling it over however, I just need a bit more time to think about it.....its a pretty drastic departure from the style I'm going with in this particular campaign.....but it is intriguing nonetheless. Lemme kick the idea around a bit more....I should have an answer by Thursday.

Halloween game night fighting the undead? What could be better?
I'm good for playing on Halloween.

If it helps; I'm fine with you modifying various vestiges or making your own. It's the class concept of basically making deals with the echoes of legends past for temporary power that I really like and want to work a character with.

The real concern I have is how are you going to explain fitting this character into the party given their current goals and ambitions? Fitting in a half-orc of any class is going to be hard enough, but one who willingly and blatantly consorts with dark forces may be too much for some of the other characters to deal with. Gustav in particular has issues with anybody that is not on the "side of righteousness" and given what Moira has been through with dark forces recently, I also have trouble seeing her willingly allowing herself to travel with such a character, let alone depend on them for their lives.
I known I need to do it from time to time, but I absolutely detest fitting new characters into the group if it seems there is no reaosn for them to be there. As I always feel I need to shoehorn them in a way that does not seem natural or even realistic. I could be wrong, you may have some great concept for explaining this characters motivations that I have not even begun to fathom, but to be sure, I'd be interested to hear what you have in mind.

Oh on that count it shouldn't be too hard. I havn't bothered with details since I don't want to get attached to a character that I can't use but part of the plan is for the character to be almost as terrified of the forces themselves as he is of being found out that he consorts with them. Vestiges are decidedly not holy beings and that puts him in very dangerous territory.
My running outline is that he comes from a far away land that he basically legged it from after the villagers of his home town learned one too many secrets. Alone, terrified and desperate he's looking for any way to improve his situation and when in doubt go where there's trouble; if there's trouble somewhere someone nearby will probably be willing to pay to make the trouble go away and he's been hearing there's quite a lot of trouble in Eliador.
I'm not sure if I might have him try and pass himself off as a cleric to try and explain some of the more improbable feats or if he'll just try and avoid ever getting caught doing anything overtly magical.
e: Now that I think about it if he's disguising himself as a priest that would be amusingly appropriate.

Its starting to take shape in my mind now......I can see that.....if he passes himself off as a cleric, that would explain a lot. Are you still going with the half-orc concept or something else? Being a half-orc will tend to draw more attention to you, and the party, but I do like the concept. If your a half-orc, were you raised by humans or orcs? What sort of culture did you have in mind for your background? I need to figure out some way to realistically introduce you character into the group and that may require a solo game or something like that......I guess its possible we could just explain the whole thing away with a complicated backstory, but then it feels forced.
Go ahead and make the character, we'll give it a try.....I love the concept and my mother always told me to try new things......so lets see where it goes. I think I can fit you in next game without too much trouble, but I'll need to see about moving the party a bit faster along the plot to do it in a natural way......basically rather than you just walking into an inn and introducing yourself to the party (the quick but forced solution) I'd rather move the party to you.....where I hope the game is going to go next will be a perfect place for them to encounter you. But the second method requires that we may have to play a solo game before next session, or at the very least a good long forum role-play or two. (You still earn XP for forums role-plays by the way).

Nah, for the Binder I'd just go with human. I shall start writing up the full character concept then Hopefully this character will get to level 2 before being devoured by undead hordes

Hey all, I am working on the next game and I'd like to get some input from you all to help me prepare. What do you all think your next move will be? Will you head back to the catacombs and hope that the Soul Harvester has still left everything like you left it so you can finally finish this, or will you follow up other leads instead? If the latter, what do you think your next move may be?

Moira was thinking that they need to finish the catacombs and source of the undead. However, she may need to stop by Eliador but it's on the way.

Yeah Gavin's going to want to head back to the Catacombs. Also the session this thursday... probably wont be able to show up for. I got a invitation to a Halloween party with some friends I rarely get to see early... well it's about 2 AM now so yesterday. Spud from what I've been informed is going to this party too but I have yet to actually confirm this with him... So yeah sorry about that.

Thats fine....like I said, real life intervenes. It'll give me more time to work out the chages, which I could REALLY use anyway. So don't worry about it. We'll just play the following week then. So Unless anyone objects, we'll plan on playing Thursday, November 7th @ 8pm EST.

I REALLY hate to do this so close to game time, but looks like I'm going to be late tonight. Got caught up at work and I won't be home for another couple hours unfortunately. That means we can either start VERY late (9pm EST at the earliest), or we can postpone one more week. I don't really know if its worth while to play for only a couple hours, so I'm just going to say we postpone again. I realize that its short notice, I feel terrible, but I'm still at work and I won't be able to get home till 9pm at least.
Also, I have to do a bid for my new work schedule tonight as well. I won't know the results of the bid until Monday. But my schedule for Thursday Nights will change starting the week of November 24th. It is my hope to get a shift that runs Monday through Friday, 3:30pm till Midnight, but there is no certainty on it until this Sunday. In any case, we will soon have to start to look for a new day and/or time to play starting the week of November 24th.
Once again, I do sincerely apologize for the short notice, but there is really nothing I can do about it.
In the meanwhile, we can still feel free to use the forums for role-plays and character development as well. Moira has already racked up a good sum of XP for her role-playing already. It will be awarded next time we log in. As soon as I know my new schedule, I will let you all know and we can see how to best work around it.

I wouldn't mind postponing. I'll be around next week to do what knightly deeds I do.

My scheduling is still a mess I fear. Too many things going on, too few hours in the day. I often dream of quitting my job and spending the rest of my hours playing D&D.....but then my wife hits me in the head and I wake up.
Anyway, until I start my new schedule I will have to postpone sadly. Which reminds me, my new schedule is Noon EST to 10:45pm (10 hour shifts) 4 days a week. I am going to be off Sunday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's starting next week. It makes running games on Thursday night easier since I don't have to rush home from work and get my last minute preparations set up to run a game. The schedule is not finalized yet as I am trying to get a trade in so I can spend more time with my wife (we will not have any days off in common with this schedule). But if I can't make a trade, that will be my schedule until early next year when we do the whole process over again.
The forum is still open for RP however and I will post here when I set the next game date, but with all the things I have going on now, I just can't devote the time needed to prepare the next game. Things will calm down once my new shift starts however.
