At the moment we're kind of lacking in time the group has been together to do forum roleplay style stuff. So I was thinking what we could do if people were willing would be to have the roleplay focus on one character and other people RP side characters in the story? Thoughts and reactions to these crazy people... Of course willing to die for the good cause of others character development.
Not sure of all the details but wanted to see if other people would be interested.

Thoughts and reactions to these crazy people... Of course willing to die for the good cause of others character development. Not sure of all the details but wanted to see if other people would be interested. Personally, I love this idea. This may seem like an odd concept for some players, but I have always thought that the campaign setting that any RPG game takes place in does not belong to any one person. It belongs to everyone who is playing the game. Even if the DM originally created the world and has their own theme and ideas they want to explore with it, it still remains the property of everyone who plays since their characters actions can directly or indirectly influence the coarse of the world. But I'd like to take that a step further and say that your idea, as posted above is great. If other players want to role-play random, previously non-existent NPC's then so much the better. The only thing I would caution is that this should not be abused. Everyone who is currently playing has shown no sign whatsoever that they are the type to do so, but I can already see a potential future player introducing a random NPC wealthy merchant who decides that he likes his PC's swagger and gives him a gift of 25,000 platinum and a Greatsword +20 of Castle Slaying. But as long as this is done in good faith and not abused, then I say go to town with it. Be creative. In fact, feel free to develop your own plot points and adventure hooks using this method as well. I will certainly mine these for game material at least as much as I do your backgrounds. Probably more-so.
